Why I'm Running

I’m Leslie Fox and I vow to work tirelessly to earn your support so I can be your next Alderman.

Our ward and Chicago are at a pivotal crossroad and I’m certain that my decades of experience can be utilized on day one to improve things in our community.

I’m the only candidate with kids in public schools — all three of my children attended CPS. I just finished my term as the Chairman of the Local School Council for Lincoln Park High School, where I fought for a counselor to support our kids. Even in a world-class school like Lincoln Park, students are deprived of social and emotional support. Let’s fix that by bringing a social worker to every public school. The cost of doing nothing is much higher: more crime, more violence, more homelessness, and more cases of suicide.

Cuts in school funding and the spike in carjackings and shootings are the reason I launched this campaign. Many people don’t feel safe walking outside. We can fix that, too. Our police department needs to be replenished and we need more of officers visible on our streets that stay on our streets.

Before I had my three kids, I ran the 1994 World Cup and then the Democratic Convention in 1996. Both legacy-building events resulted in surpluses, showcased our city to the entire world, and most importantly, brought Chicagoans together. Then I went to the private sector where I created and grew an award-winning communications firm that I later sold.

I have a track record of breaking through bureaucracy and getting things done. And I promise you this: developers, donors, and special interests will never influence my decision making.

We are so lucky to live in Chicago’s greatest neighborhood, but I know we deserve better than the status quo and I have the experience and passion to deliver that change.

I can’t wait to meet you and earn your support.

Best,

Leslie Fox
